Why this blog?

  • May 2013 – Cannes Director’s Fortnight: Jane Campion, who headed up the Cinéfondation that year, presented the first episodes of Top of the Lake the TV series she co-created with Australian director Gerard Lee. I had such a cinematographic shock in front of the beauty of New Zealand’s landscapes, that I promised myself to go & see them for real.
  • Jul 2015 – Welcome to Welly: After I’ve enjoyed Aotearoa landscapes in the North Island as well as in the South, I decided to “set up shop” in Wellington for a while to learn more about Kiwi cinema & write a bit about it.

To my eyes, as a French Film Journalist, cinema has always been more than big screens and moving images. What’s really precious with the 7th art, is that a movie can nourish our fantasy as well as develop our brain. And above all, it creates relationships between people: it gives you the emotional impulse to talk about it & learn more on its subject.

This blog connects my love for New Zealand with my passion for cinema. I wish I could make you, film lovers, a bit more aware of Kiwi cinema & its people. And much more than this, I’d like to give back something to the land of the long white cloud, whose light & atmosphere are so inspiring.

Big challenge, but you don’t go to the other side of the world to stay locked in our little room alone, do you?

Happy reading of my blog!
